Sukuk

Islamic financial certificates that represent ownership in underlying assets, structured in compliance with Sharia principles prohibiting interest (riba) and excessive uncertainty (gharar).

Sukuk are Islamic financial instruments that function similarly to bonds but are structured to comply with Sharia law. Unlike conventional bonds, which represent a debt obligation with interest payments, sukuk represent ownership in tangible assets or business ventures, with returns generated from the underlying asset's performance rather than from interest (riba).

CENUP's Islamic Trade & Finance OS leverages evidence-backed infrastructure to ensure that sukuk issuances and trading are built on verifiable asset ownership and compliant structuring. Through ProofChain technology, each sukuk certificate can be traced to its underlying asset, ensuring that the asset exists, is properly valued, and has not been double-pledged—a critical requirement for Sharia compliance and investor protection.

The Islamic Trade & Finance OS supports various sukuk structures including ijara (lease-based), musharaka (partnership-based), and wakala (agency-based), providing institutions with a comprehensive platform for Sharia-compliant capital market instruments.
